29 Sep How Pathwaves Can Help With Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is described in the ICD-11 (The international Classification of Diseases Manual published by the World Health Organization) as chronic widespread pain (CWP), which is diffuse pain in at least 4 of 5 body regions and is associated with significant emotional distress (anxiety, anger/frustration or depressed mood) or functional disability (interference in daily life activities and reduced participation in social roles) [1].
CWP is multifactorial: biological, psychological and social factors contribute to the pain syndrome.
The diagnosis is appropriate when the pain is not directly attributable to a nociceptive process in these regions and there are features consistent with nociplastic pain [2] and identified psychological and social contributors.
Basically, this means that the pain is not associated with a physical problem other than the actual feeling of pain, and that there are contributing psychological (emotional and mental) reasons for the pain.
If this is true, why does the treatment of fibromyalgia most often begin and end with the prescribing of medication? Medication is proven not to correct psychological issues.

Psychological and Social Factors for Pain
Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain and spinal cord process painful and nonpainful signals. The only known identifiable contributing factors to this phenomena are psychological or social factors (yes – mental and emotional).
Symptoms often begin after an event, such as physical trauma, surgery, infection or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time with no single triggering event. Women are more likely to develop fibromyalgia than are men.
The institution of medicine maintains that there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of medications can help control symptoms.
At Pathwaves, through our NeuroEmpowerment™ program which fully integrates psychological treatment with QEEg technology and advanced Neurofeedback, we have seen impactful reductions in the symptoms of fibromyalgia, which have provided drastic improvements in the quality of life of our patients.

NeuroEmpowerment™ and Fibromyalgia
If fibromyalgia is a disease that is characterized as pain in the body for which there seems to be no physical cause, and researchers have found that there is a very (very very) strong correlation to mental, emotional, and spiritual (researchers do not add spiritual) issues, then doesn’t it make sense to treat fibromyalgia another way?
NeuroEmpowerment™ is a treatment which corrects mental, emotional, and spiritual issues at the same time it corrects physical issues directly associated with psychological function, thus alleviating the root of the problem, rather than treating the symptoms. This is the key for long-term optimal living and quality of life.
